Job Description: Each summer, we welcome students, 1st grade-8th grade, from the Holland Heights neighborhood, to play, learn, eat, and be in community. Through amazing partnerships, we are able to provide students with 2 free meals, activities, and many hours of mentorship from our amazing staff. We are looking for someone who has a big heart for a diverse group of students who seek a safe and loving space during the summer. We also value a great leader who can prepare and support a team of high school students who will work directly with the students. If you love being outdoors, living out the teachings of Jesus, planning, and teaching, then this may be a great space for you to thrive. The Site Director is in the lead position which oversees both the Teen Staff and Site Managers. The Site Director reports to the Youth and Family Discipleship Director.
Major Responsibilities:
-Cultivate meaningful relationships with a wide range of kids from the local community.
-Train and guide Teen Staff and Site Managers at Blacktop Rec.
-Assist with all Blacktop Rec activities both on and off site.
-Lead or support daily meetings and regular team building activities and abuse provention policy training.
-Create a positive atmosphere for youth from the community, balanced with safety and loving discipline.
-Facilite lunch service in accordance with Holland Public Schools standards.
Ensure staff is equiped to:
-Maintain Blacktop Rec supplies and facilities.
-Assist with daily set-up and cleanup of Blacktop Rec.
-Make daily pick-ups and drop-offs of neighborhood youth.
Skills and Qualifications:
-Experience volunteering in human services, education, or youth development.
-Passion to work with youth promoting positive relationships.
-Passion for mentoring and community development.
-Demonstrates values consistent with Calvary Reformed Church’s Mission Statement.
-High School diploma or equivalent
-Submit to and receive approval on a criminal background check, a child protective background check, and if appropriate a motor vehicle check.
-Show initiative, yet also is willing to learn from others and follow instructions when necessary.
-Demonstrates Christ-like Servant Leadership: leading in both words and actions.
Preferred Qualifications:
-College degree in Social Work, Education, or Ministry
-Experience working with kids with various backgrounds and abilities.
-Willingness to host kid friendly dance parties at Blacktop!

Blacktop Rec is scheduled to run June 16, 2025 through August 7, 2025. It is an 8-week program running Monday through Thursday. You will be expected to be available from 10am until 4:30pm for regularly scheduled days (with youth in attendance from 12pm until 4pm). We understand that there may be some unexpected conflicts. Please list any days you currently know you will be unavailable to work during this time.
